Role Summary
The Order Picker is responsible for retrieving pick lists detailing items for customer orders, prioritizing tasks, and collecting merchandise throughout the store efficiently. The role involves carefully packing orders to avoid damage and labeling them correctly before placing them in designated holding areas until shipping. Order Pickers also assist customers at the Service Desk by handling point of sale transactions, returns, calls, and interpreting order notes.
Primary Responsibilities
- Implement The Home Depot's GET customer service approach: Greeting, Engaging, and Thanking customers.
- Efficiently gather products to complete orders by using the Order Fulfillment Application.
- Load delivery vehicles and assist with curbside customer orders, adhering to all safety rules.
- Maintain organization by creating storage space for delivery orders until shipment.
- Pack and label items with care to prevent damage during transport.
- Follow all safety and loss prevention protocols.
- Transport freight safely between staging areas and overhead storage using proper equipment.

Physical and Working Conditions
- Role involves various physical activities including walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving items.
- Occasional requirement to lift and handle heavy or bulky items unassisted.
- Ability to climb ladders up to 12-16 feet to access or stock merchandise.
- Flexible schedule including potential overnight, evening, and weekend shifts.
- Work environment may include dust, noise, forklift gas fumes, and temperature variations due to open doors.
Additional Information
- Reports directly to Service Desk Department Supervisor.
- Experience operating reach trucks and order picker machines is advantageous.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent credential.
- Preferably 1 to 2 years of experience in retail or distribution.
