Job description

Position Summary

Sharp Decisions is looking for an entry-level Operations Analyst specializing in financial engineering or quantitative analysis. This role suits candidates holding an undergraduate or master's degree in Financial Engineering or a related quantitative field, with little to no prior experience in financial services. The focus is on supporting trading, valuation, and market data management operations within a dynamic trading environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in day-to-day trading, valuation, and market data management tasks.
  • Maintain rigorous data accuracy and precision under fast-paced conditions.
  • Conduct analysis of financial data supporting portfolio valuation, risk metrics, and profit and loss reporting.
  • Collaborate closely with Front Office, Middle Office, Technology departments, and senior management.
  • Create and implement automation and analytical tools using programming languages such as Python, VBA, and SQL.
  • Prepare detailed reports and perform comprehensive data analyses utilizing Microsoft Excel and additional reporting software.
  • Effectively manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously while adhering to time-sensitive deadlines.

Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or master's degree in Financial Engineering or a closely related quantitative or analytical discipline.
  • Up to one year of professional experience in financial services.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to data correctness.
  • Familiarity with derivatives products including Interest Rate Swaps, Options, Caps/Floors, Swaptions, and Structured Products.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving abilities.
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Excel.
  • Programming proficiency in Python, VBA, SQL, or similar languages.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with strong collaborative skills.
  • Capability to handle multiple competing priorities in a deadline-driven setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous exposure to market data management processes.
  • Knowledge of portfolio valuation techniques.
  • Understanding of risk measurement approaches.
  • Experience analyzing profit and loss statements.
