Role Overview and Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repairs involving all aspects of carpentry and joinery work.
  • Execute minor repairs and replacements of hinges and door closing mechanisms.
  • Maintain and repair furniture such as chairs, tables, and cabinets.
  • Work proficiently with materials including wood, fibre-board, Formica, glass, and plasterboard.
  • Carry out minor construction tasks and installation duties as needed.
  • Provide accurate materials usage data to the Store Controller to assist with inventory management.
  • Report any identified hazards encountered during duties promptly.
  • Maintain a neat appearance and wear the provided uniform in good condition, changing into a clean uniform when entering guest areas unless in emergencies.
  • Adhere to safety standards by using correct safety gear and following maintenance guidelines set by the Head of Department.
  • Assist colleagues during emergencies and perform additional engineering-related tasks as assigned by the Assistant Chief Engineer.
  • Participate in both on-the-job and external training sessions as required.
  • Comply with all departmental and hotel policies, including those regarding safety, risk management, and emergencies.
  • Keep all workspaces clean, organized, and in proper condition.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Possession of a technical certification in Carpentry.
  • Between 2 to 5 years’ experience in hotel or building maintenance roles.
  • Familiarity with water systems, pumps, and sanitary installations.
  • Strong ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues (troubleshooting skills).
  • Willingness and capability to work in shifts and respond effectively to emergencies.
