Application Engineer

Role Overview

We are looking for a skilled engineer, ideally with a diploma in engineering or equivalent relevant experience, to assist our regional strategic accounts team mainly serving the Japanese market. This role involves collaborating closely with diverse sales teams to interpret client requirements, devise tailored solutions, and manage expectations with a sales-driven approach. The engineer will function as a consultant both internally and externally, customizing project-specific solutions and serving as the primary technical contact. The position includes hands-on training as well as regular travel and customer meetings.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the technical liaison for key consultants and client accounts.
• Bridge communication and requirements between sales teams and manufacturing capabilities.
• Conduct technical evaluations, feasibility assessments, and total cost of ownership analyses.
• Assist sales with precise project cost estimations and ensure compliance with documentation requirements.
• Draft deviation and exception reports for proposals.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Managers, Technical and Aftersales Support, Commissioning Engineers, Key Account Managers, Consultants, and Contractors to aid application development and delivery.
• Participate in Key Account Manager and technical team meetings to capture requirements and provide updates.
• Engage professionally with stakeholders to collect feedback, clarify technical queries, and maintain alignment on project objectives.
• Utilize user feedback constructively to enhance application features and user experience.
• Maintain a proactive, responsive stance to team and stakeholder needs to foster a positive, productive work environment.
• Manage technical responsibilities specifically for equipment and facilities commonly found in Data Centres such as Air Handling Units, CRAC/CRAH units, chillers, ACMV products, and liquid cooling systems.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Excellent communication capabilities.
• Strong self-drive with exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to juggle multiple assignments independently while maintaining efficiency.
• Comfortable handling back-office technical duties and system maintenance along with engaging clients/consultants to assess needs and provide solutions.
• Skillful in building and leveraging relationships across key internal and external stakeholders to access expert support when needed.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time.

Experience and Language Proficiency

• Minimum of 3 years as a Mechanical Engineer or equivalent qualification such as a Bachelor of Engineering.
• Experience or knowledge in mechanical systems, refrigeration, hydraulics, or related fields.
• Prior engineering experience in a Data Centre environment is preferred.
• Fluency in Business English is required; proficiency in Japanese and/or Mandarin is optional but advantageous.
