About One Acre Fund

Established in 2006, One Acre Fund empowers 5.5 million smallholder farmers across nine African countries covering two-thirds of the continent's farming population. The organization offers quality agricultural inputs, tree seedlings, accessible credit, advanced farming training, and diverse agricultural services. This initiative enables farmers to raise their income and assets by over 35%, while sustainably enhancing their resilience. Role Overview

The Finance Associate position supports the Uganda program by conducting financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting to guide management decisions. The role also collaborates with the Grants Finance team to manage financial aspects of Uganda-specific grants, ensuring financial integrity, compliance, and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation and ongoing updates of five-year rolling financial forecasts and models, ensuring consistency of financial and operational assumptions between the Country Director and Global Finance team to support strategic long-term planning.
  • Serve as the main financial consultant for strategic initiatives by providing well-grounded recommendations supported by sensitivity analyses, ensuring adherence to Global Finance best practices and understanding fiscal implications.
  • Oversee monthly financial reporting and the Budget vs. Actual review process with department leaders, providing leadership with detailed analyses and updates to maintain the Uganda program's fiscal health and communicate outcomes.
  • Manage the entire grants lifecycle by ensuring donor compliance, timely and accurate reporting, and continuous improvements to tracking systems and databases for efficiency.
  • Develop donor budget reports and forecasts while monitoring grant expenditures to maintain alignment with budgets and enable proactive financial management.
  • Administer comprehensive fund flow modeling to secure operational liquidity for restricted activities, acting as a liaison among Finance, Field, and Fundraising teams to coordinate fund transfers and grant progress.
  • Lead the preparation and submission of all Uganda-specific tax returns and statutory obligations in full accordance with local laws. Act as the principal contact for audits, ensuring smooth audits through careful data and document management.
  • Enhance financial integrity by identifying potential control weaknesses and risks. Collaborate with leadership and department heads to implement improvements, strengthen compliance, and establish solid governance frameworks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration with strong foundational knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
  • More than four years of progressive experience in finance, consulting, or strategic advisory roles.
  • Completed professional certification such as ACCA or CPA (Uganda).
  • Proven experience managing multi-currency grants from prominent donors.
  • Proficiency in Power BI and Google Sheets, with intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel including financial modeling and data visualization to support executive decision-making.

Preferred Start Date: Immediate or as soon as possible.
Location: Jinja and Kampala, Uganda.
Contract Duration: Two years with potential renewal to permanent status depending on performance.
