Yard Worker

Role Overview

This role is hands-on outdoor work in a vehicle yard. The job involves draining automotive fluids, removing selected components from salvage vehicles, and preparing cars to be placed in the yard.

What You’ll Do

• Safely remove fluids, lubricants, and related components such as converters to get vehicles ready for yard placement.
• Take apart salvage vehicles outdoors and remove reusable parts, including items like quarter panels, doors, lids, hoods, axles, and suspension components.
• Place vehicles in the yard as assigned and enter vehicle details accurately and promptly.
• Use a forklift or loader when needed to move vehicles from the processing area to the yard.
• Clear debris from vehicles before they enter the processing area.
• Remove batteries for testing and resale, and deliver charged batteries to the retail area.
• Coordinate with the loader operator to stage or move vehicles properly within the yard.
• Walk through the yard and place debris into vehicles being removed.
• Break down tires.
• Keep the worksite safe, organized, and clean.
• Follow EPA and OSHA requirements at all times.
• Wear all required personal protective equipment.
• Adhere to company rules, procedures, and quality improvement practices.
• Take on additional duties when assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Comfortable doing straightforward, routine work.
• Able to cooperate well with coworkers and other team members.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Clear and effective communication skills.
• Flexible availability, including weekends and variable schedules.
• Physically able to remain on your feet for most of the shift, except when operating equipment.
• No lifting restrictions and no fear of heights.
• Able to stand for long periods and also sit, walk, push, pull, bend, and climb as needed.
• Capable of lifting and moving up to 75 pounds regularly.
• Comfortable climbing ladders and stairs and working at heights over 15 feet.
• Willing to work around moving mechanical equipment.
• Prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditions without cover.
• Able to tolerate both high and low temperatures.
• Comfortable working in a moderately loud environment.

Work Environment

This position is based outdoors in West Palm Beach, Florida, and requires regular exposure to weather changes, mechanical equipment, and moderate noise.
