About the Organisation
TBI Health was established in 2001 with the aim of helping people recover from pain, injury, and illness. In 2016, the organisation partnered with Southern Cross and is now wholly owned by Southern Cross. The team is focused on getting clients the right support at the right time so they can return to meaningful, fulfilling lives.
The organisation promotes a supportive workplace that values staff wellbeing, professional growth, and access to new service areas. It is also committed to an inclusive, equity-focused culture and recognises its role as a Te Tiriti partner with an ongoing commitment to improving health equity for Māori. This is a chance to be part of a wider transformation in delivering tailored, high-quality healthcare across Aotearoa.
About the Role
This opportunity has opened because of internal movement elsewhere in the country. The Hawke’s Bay team is looking for an energetic, motivated Physiotherapist, and applications are welcome from candidates at all experience levels, including new graduates.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team delivering community-based care under ACC-funded services, including Training for Independence, Hospital and Community Services, and Concussion support, as well as private rest-home and in-home rehabilitation. The role is expected to contribute to achievable KPIs that support quality outcomes and ongoing professional development.
The position reports to the Hawke’s Bay Clinic Manager and will also receive support from the Hawke’s Bay clinical lead. You will be an important contributor to both the local Hawke’s Bay team and the National Hospital and Community Rehabilitation Team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide education, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation in community settings across a varied caseload, including musculoskeletal, concussion, pain, neurological, acute, and chronic presentations.
- Work with external stakeholders such as specialists, GPs, rest-home staff, and ACC to support each client’s rehabilitation journey.
- Collaborate closely with a skilled and supportive interdisciplinary team.
- Deliver consistently high standards of client care while meeting service KPIs.
Benefits and Support
- A laptop, mobile phone, and access to a vehicle for work use are supplied.
- The employer covers APC, OTNZ, and indemnity insurance costs.
- Annual CPD support of 2% of salary.
- Subsidised Southern Cross health insurance, including promotional offers, for staff working 20 hours or more per week.
- Access to comprehensive internal training programmes.
- Training sessions during the year that focus on using Māori tikanga appropriately in the role.
- Opportunities to develop into supervision, training, and quality-focused roles.
- A wellbeing allowance valued at $250 per year for staff working 20 hours or more weekly, or $100 for those working under 20 hours per week.
- Birthday leave for employees working 20 hours or more per week.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking someone who works well in a team, aligns with the organisation’s values, and is motivated to deliver strong outcomes for clients. Full orientation and training will be provided to help the right person succeed.
Essential Requirements
- Genuine interest in community-based rehabilitation.
- Experience with musculoskeletal, concussion, or neurological conditions.
- At least 2 years of clinical experience.
- Strong work ethic and a positive, proactive attitude.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to clinical quality and continuous professional development.
- Current Annual Practising Certificate valid in New Zealand.
- Membership of a relevant professional body and current indemnity insurance.
- Full, clean New Zealand driver’s licence.
- Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy or higher.
About the Team
You will join a highly experienced and collaborative group that includes Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, a Hand Therapist, Psychologists, a Clinical Pharmacist, a Neuropsychologist, visiting Medical Specialists, and a strong administrative team. The team works across two sites: the Hastings and Napier clinics, including a newly opened location in Napier CBD.
The organisation values collaboration, respect, and mutual support, both professionally and personally. The team was recognised as Top Clinic for TBI Health 2024/2025 and remains focused on delivering excellent care to the local community.
A strong commitment to cultural capability is also central to the role, including building relationships with Māori health providers and local iwi to ensure services reflect the needs of the region’s diverse communities.
Application Details
Applications close on 23 July 2026. Please submit a CV and cover letter. All correspondence will be treated in strict confidence.
