Role Overview

The Operations Supervisor will lead daily site activities, ensure safe and compliant operations, and provide hands-on support across troubleshooting, quality control, and operational improvements. This role also involves balancing supply and labor costs, contributing technical input on process changes, and helping with hiring, training, and performance development of team members. In addition, the supervisor will support annual planning, including goal-setting and budget forecasting, and may be assigned special investigative projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and direct day-to-day operations, including scheduling and troubleshooting.
• Ensure that health, safety, environmental, and compliance procedures are followed at all times.
• Maintain adherence to OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other applicable government regulations.
• Organize and complete all mandatory training requirements.
• Oversee equipment usage and maintenance so assets are used efficiently and reliably.
• Help train team members so work standards are consistently met across site functions.
• Respond to customer questions professionally and recommend practical alternatives when issues arise.
• Support the immediate supervisor with annual goal setting, budget estimates, and special analysis assignments.
• Contribute technical expertise for operational changes and improvements.
• Evaluate the relationship between supply costs and labor requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a closely related science field, or equivalent relevant work experience.
• 4 to 6 years of experience in hazardous waste operations preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of DOT, EPA, TSCA, and OSHA requirements.
• Understanding of site capabilities and limitations for handling, treating, storing, and shipping hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
• Comfortable using computers and common business systems.
• Strong leadership and supervisory capability.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage several deadlines at once.
• Customer-focused mindset with a professional approach.
• Ability to prepare reports and written updates as needed.
• HAZWOPER certification required.
