Role Overview

The Operations Assistant Manager will oversee a designated operations area, support frontline teams, and help maintain service quality, safety, staffing readiness, and operational efficiency. The role requires hands-on involvement in daily operations, coordination with maintenance, and close attention to team development and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a small group of Team Leaders directly and support their R&A Operators indirectly, covering training, attendance, grooming, coaching, appraisals, and development plans.
  • Prepare monthly duty rosters for the area, while making sure leave planning protects operational coverage and gives colleagues adequate time off.
  • Organize, schedule, and carry out both classroom and on-the-job training to improve service quality and team growth.
  • Share relevant updates and important information through meetings, briefings, and other communication channels.
  • Support morale by using recognition, reward, and incentive initiatives effectively.
  • Make sure policies, procedures, and performance expectations are consistently followed within the assigned area.
  • Review operating procedures and standards regularly, recommend updates where needed, and help maintain a high level of guest service.
  • Address service shortcomings, look for recurring issues, and escalate observations or suggestions to the line manager.
  • Monitor satisfaction feedback for the area, identify patterns, and report findings to management.
  • Check the accuracy of logs, checklists, and records, then analyze the results for improvements.
  • Conduct appraisals, give feedback, coach team members, and manage disciplinary discussions when required in line with company policy.
  • Work with the line manager to help achieve financial targets by tracking revenue and expenditure and taking action where needed.
  • Oversee stock management and inventory counts to keep sufficient supply levels while minimizing loss and wastage.
  • Take part in daily operations and lead by example alongside the team.
  • Promote a positive and cooperative working environment through team-building and engagement activities.
  • Monitor ride performance and throughput in the assigned area to ensure attractions operate efficiently and meet expected output levels.
  • Coordinate day-to-day working relationships between Operations and Maintenance.
  • Report safety concerns promptly to the line manager and help uphold strong safety and hygiene standards.
  • Take on other tasks or projects assigned by the Operations department.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification is required.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience in theme parks or water parks, specifically in operations.
  • At least 3 years of experience working in water park operations.
  • Hands-on experience and confidence in shallow-water environments, including supporting and supervising guests in low-depth aquatic areas.
  • An active Ellis & Associates Special Facilities International Lifeguard Training Program License is mandatory.
  • Strong customer orientation.
  • Good written and spoken English.
  • Clear and effective communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A business degree in leisure or hospitality management is an advantage.
  • OSHAD-compliant Working at Height certification is preferred.
  • PADI Open Water certification is preferred.
