Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor

Role overview

Our client is a privately owned food processing business with a strong market position, and it is expanding its workforce during a period of growth. This opportunity is for a full-time Afternoon-Shift Maintenance Supervisor at the Broadmeadows, Victoria further processing facility.

Pay and shift details

• Pay rate: $50 to $55 per hour, plus 15% loading and superannuation
• Shift start time: 2:00 pm, Monday to Friday
• Working pattern: 8-hour shifts, 38 hours per week
• Some weekend work may be needed, and overtime is available under the standard industry award

Key responsibilities

In this position, you will support Engineering and Production leadership by coordinating maintenance activity and keeping equipment running safely and efficiently. You will:

• Supervise the shift maintenance team while following strict plant safety procedures and inspecting completed work
• Build and oversee the workload plan for the preventative maintenance program using a CMMS
• Provide practical technical support for plant equipment and systems during breakdowns, shutdowns, and scheduled maintenance, with around 30% of time spent hands-on
• Make sure all maintenance and repair work meets OEM standards and specifications
• Oversee spare parts, purchasing, and subcontractor coordination
• Motivate the team and push performance against agreed KPIs

Candidate profile

The business is seeking a flexible, dependable, upbeat technician who values trust and integrity and is keen to grow while continuing to learn.

• Trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter with a full certificate
• At least 3 years of maintenance leadership experience in an FMCG environment, preferably food production
• At least 5 years of experience as a maintenance fitter
• Strong mechanical maintenance background, including advanced fault finding and diagnosis on PLC-controlled automated machinery and equipment
• Solid knowledge of HACCP, GMP, and Australian Standards
• Well-developed organisational skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Fabrication, hydraulics, pneumatics, and welding skills would be an advantage
• Willingness to make small shift-time adjustments to support teammates
• Experience with conveyors, high-speed packaging equipment, sensors, packers, and similar machinery
