Role Summary

This opportunity is intended for mathematics professionals with Python experience who are open to part-time, non-permanent project work. Contributors may work on a variety of specialized tasks depending on the project.

Typical Project Tasks

• Develop original computational mathematics problems that resemble genuine research-style workflows.
• Build problems that need Python to solve, using tools such as NumPy, SciPy, and SymPy.
• Create tasks that are computationally demanding and not realistically solvable by hand within a reasonable period, such as days or weeks.
• Design problems that require multi-step reasoning in areas such as number theory, combinatorics, graph theory, and numerical analysis.
• Ground problems in practical mathematical applications or real research challenges.
• Check solutions with Python and standard mathematical libraries.
• Write clear problem statements and supply verified correct answers.

What the Client Is Looking For

• A degree in Mathematics, either pure or applied, or in a closely related discipline.
• Working knowledge of Python for numerical validation; equivalent experience with MATLAB, R, C, SQL, NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, domain-specific libraries, Stata, or another programming language is also acceptable.
• At least 2 years of professional experience, which may come from applied work, research, or teaching.
• Hands-on experience with numerical methods and symbolic computation.
• The ability to create tasks that reflect real mathematical research processes.
• Familiarity with computational complexity theory.
• Strong written English at C1 level or above.

How the Process Works

You apply, complete the required qualification step(s), join a project, carry out the assigned tasks, and then receive payment.

Project Time Expectation

During active phases, the expected workload is around 10 to 20 hours per week. This is only an estimate tied to project activity and is not a fixed guarantee.

Compensation

Contributors may earn up to the equivalent of $35 per hour on this project, depending on experience level and the speed of contribution. Pay can differ from project to project based on scope, complexity, and expertise needed.

This is a project-based contributor role and should not be treated as permanent employment.
