Role overview

As a Material Planner, you will make sure raw materials and components are available in line with the master production schedule. You will oversee the full material lifecycle, from demand planning through to delivery, with the goal of preventing production stoppages and avoiding excess inventory.

Core responsibilities

• Review demand inputs such as sales orders, customer behaviour, and forecast data to determine the right stock position.
• Use ERP-based processes to assess and validate purchasing requirements.
• Create replenishment orders so supply matches manufacturing targets.
• Adjust delivery plans when product designs or production plans change.
• Maintain healthy inventory levels by balancing safety stock with turnover goals.
• Watch for slow-moving or obsolete materials and reduce financial risk from surplus stock.
• Support cycle counting and stock verification with logistics colleagues to resolve inventory differences.
• Send rolling forecasts to suppliers to keep material flow stable and support production capacity.
• Monitor supplier commitments and escalate issues early when supply risks appear.
• Investigate repeated delivery problems by reviewing supplier performance against agreed timelines.
• Work with transport partners to improve inbound delivery flow and limit unnecessary premium freight costs.

Requirements

• A degree in business, material planning, or a closely related field is preferred, although substantial relevant industry experience may be accepted instead.
• Several years of production-related experience as a purchaser or line-side supplier.
• Background in logistics or warehouse management.
• Strong ability to interpret data, including complex production spreadsheets and operational reports.
• Solid understanding of Material Requirements Planning and ERP platforms such as SAP or LN.
• Ability to respond quickly to issues caused by supplier cancellations or sudden changes in demand.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills for working with technical teams and international supply partners.
