Role Overview

This Janitor position focuses on keeping public and shared spaces at a large Dexterra camp facility clean, sanitized, and presentable. The role is important to creating a safe, orderly, and comfortable environment for residents, employees, and guests.

As the facility expands from about 500 people to more than 4,000, this role becomes increasingly important in managing busy common areas and maintaining high cleanliness standards across the site. The position reports to the Housekeeping Supervisor and works within a team committed to safety and cleanliness.

Key Duties

• Keep shared spaces clean and hygienic, including lobbies, entrances, corridors, stairways, washrooms, shower areas, recreation rooms, offices, and other communal areas.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and spot-clean floors and surfaces.
• Disinfect frequently touched surfaces such as door handles, handrails, switches, and counters.
• Collect trash and recycling from public areas and dispose of waste correctly.
• Refill washroom supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels, and soap.
• Clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces when needed.
• Keep cleaning tools, carts, and storage spaces tidy and in good working order.
• Inform the supervisor about repairs needed, damage, or any safety concerns.
• Always follow site safety procedures.
• Support other janitorial or housekeeping tasks as assigned.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate should have prior experience in janitorial work, cleaning, or facilities maintenance. Experience in workforce housing, hotels, institutional settings, or commercial cleaning environments is considered an advantage.

Applicants should understand basic cleaning methods, common chemicals, and cleaning equipment. The role also calls for the ability to work on your own as well as collaborate with others, strong attention to detail, and a genuine commitment to cleanliness.

Candidates must be physically able to stand for long periods and lift between 35 and 50 pounds. A willingness to follow safety, sanitation, and infection-control procedures is required.
