Position Overview
This is a full-time, on-site role focused on the administration, upkeep, and improvement of the organization’s networks and broader information systems. The position serves as a technical lead, helping guide projects, support digital transformation efforts, and strengthen the capability of the IT team through mentoring and knowledge sharing. The role also contributes to advancing the organization’s mission and vision.
Supervisory Responsibilities
The selected professional will oversee and coach IT staff as assigned.
Core Duties
- Design, implement, and manage network environments, including hybrid cloud setups, virtualization platforms such as VMWare and Hyper-V, Windows servers, Microsoft SQL, and related applications.
- Maintain strong network performance, connectivity, and protection through modern security practices such as zero trust, multi-factor authentication, and endpoint defense tools.
- Administer cloud services including Office365, SharePoint Online, Azure, and AWS, while supporting backup, disaster recovery, and continuity planning.
- Set up and maintain VLANs, routing, firewalls, and segmented network structures to enable secure and scalable operations.
- Use scripting and modern management tools to automate repetitive IT tasks.
- Create and keep current documentation for network design, procedures, and incident response, supporting audits and compliance requirements.
- Drive cybersecurity efforts including vulnerability handling, threat monitoring, and user security awareness training.
- Manage user identities, permissions, and account lifecycles across systems.
- Deliver technical support, training, and direction to employees; resolve advanced issues and escalate when needed.
- Work with vendors and coordinate procurement for IT hardware, software, and services.
- Develop and apply IT policies, procedures, and contingency plans aligned with organizational goals and regulatory needs.
- Partner with IT colleagues and leadership to solve cross-functional issues and support modernization initiatives.
- Plan and coordinate outages, changes, and upgrades to minimize disruption to operations.
- Contribute to IT strategy, roadmap planning, and ongoing improvement projects.
- Travel for work using a personal or organization vehicle.
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
- Work evenings and weekends when operational needs require it.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- A trade degree or Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Technology, or an equivalent mix of technical education and network administration experience is expected.
- Professional certifications are preferred, such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, or VMware Certified Professional.
- At least 5 years of network administration experience, including Windows environments, virtualization, and cloud platforms, is required.
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience in network security, automation, and IT operations within hybrid environments is required.
- At least 2 years of direct staff supervision is preferred.
Additional Qualifications
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, cloud-based applications, and business software.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical topics to non-technical audiences.
- Willingness to work flexible schedules to meet operational demands.
- Must hold a valid California driver’s license, have reliable transportation, maintain auto insurance that complies with state law, and meet the organization’s insurance requirements for operating organization vehicles.
Physical Requirements
The role involves regular sitting, hand and finger use, and speaking or hearing. It also frequently requires standing, walking, and reaching. Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be needed. The employee must be able to regularly lift or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds. Required vision abilities include close, distant, color, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
The job may involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions. The usual noise level is moderate.
Schedule
Workdays are Monday through Friday, from 8:30am to 5pm, for 7.5 hours per day.
