Position summary
The Fleet Manager is accountable for the overall performance, cost control, and compliance of the company’s fleet across all regions. This position focuses on improving vehicle uptime, lowering total ownership costs, and making sure every asset meets required safety and regulatory standards. The role also supports consistent processes, vendor accountability, and system usage so the business has the right equipment to support safe, dependable, and efficient field operations.
Key responsibilities
- Create and update fleet maintenance and repair procedures, including monitoring vehicles going in and out of service, rotation planning, and replacement planning.
- Coordinate the purchase and disposal of equipment.
- Align fleet availability with the needs of each area and region.
- Ensure all fleet activity follows safety rules and other regulatory requirements.
- Oversee inventory control for fleet assets and equipment across all regions.
- Carry out field support work, including onsite visits, reviews, due diligence, and audits.
- Manage vehicle specifications in line with compliance standards.
- Approve and maintain local repair shops and vendors.
- Lead fleet planning and optimization efforts.
- Improve use of Fleetio across company locations and introduce processes needed to maintain compliance.
- Support budgeting and reporting related to fleet maintenance expenses.
- Take on other duties as assigned.
- Identify assets that are underused and carry out redeployment or replacement plans using cost and reliability data from vendors and Fleetio.
- Plan fleet resources so vehicle availability matches regional delivery and service demand, especially during peak periods.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s or undergraduate degree is preferred, ideally in business, logistics, finance, or a related field.
- Three to five years of relevant experience is preferred.
- Background in fleet management, maintenance, or logistics is preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, with advanced capability in Microsoft applications.
- Good computer literacy and solid communication skills.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication ability.
- Comfortable traveling at a moderate level to support field operations.
- Ability to stay steady under pressure and adjust plans or behavior when needed.
- Demonstrated ability to work with leadership and employees to define goals and standards.
- Consistently professional, respectful, cooperative, and dependable with employees and customers.
- Must protect confidentiality, security, company image, integrity, and records as required by the role.
- Must attend all required training and in-service sessions.
- Must complete PERC and other online training promptly.
- Strong understanding of commercial fleet operations, maintenance practices, and total cost of ownership in a multi-location setting.
- Proven ability to improve fleet results using data such as uptime, maintenance cost, and asset utilization.
- Experience managing vendors, including pricing negotiations, expectation setting, and performance accountability.
- Strong commitment to safety and compliance, with the ability to support HSE on continuous improvement efforts.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and fleet systems such as Fleetio.
Physical working requirements

- Regular travel to field locations, bulk plants, and repair facilities is required.
- Extended periods of sitting and computer use are part of the job.
- Must be able to lift, carry, transport, or move up to 15 pounds at a time.

- Must be able to communicate and exchange information verbally and in writing.
- Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception, along with the ability to adjust focus.
- Work environment noise is usually moderate.
- Must communicate clearly in writing and speaking with field employees, vendors, and leadership.
- Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and hold a valid driver’s license.
