This position is responsible for leading electrical construction delivery on large-scale projects, with a strong focus on utility-scale solar and renewable energy EPC work. The role covers execution planning, site coordination, quality, safety, progress control, and stakeholder management to ensure electrical works are completed to the required standards and timelines.
Electrical Construction Management
- Direct the implementation of high-voltage and low-voltage electrical works, including module stringing, inverter setup, transformer and HT yard activities, cable routing, terminations, earthing, and SCADA installations.
- Make sure all electrical construction work follows approved drawings, technical specifications, IEC/IS standards, and project-specific requirements.
- Create and refine construction methods, work sequences, and execution plans for the electrical scope.
Planning, Scheduling & Control
- Evaluate and lock in electrical construction schedules, detailed micro-plans, and manpower deployment plans along with the planning team.
- Track actual progress against the baseline schedule and implement corrective actions to reduce slippage.
- Support project cost discipline by making efficient use of resources and ensuring work fronts are prepared in advance.
Coordination & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the main contact for clients, consultants, OEMs, EPC partners, and subcontractors on all electrical construction matters.
- Work closely with civil, mechanical, commissioning, QA/QC, and HSE teams so that activities integrate smoothly.
- Lead review discussions for electrical construction and close cross-functional issues in a timely manner.
Quality Assurance & Technical Oversight
- Put quality management systems into practice for electrical construction activities and ensure they are followed.
- Examine and approve method statements, inspection and test plans, and technical submittals.
- Drive closure of NCRs and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
- Offer technical support for complex site challenges and value-engineering opportunities.
Health, Safety & Environmental Management
- Encourage and maintain a strong electrical safety culture across all project locations.
- Ensure strict compliance with HSE policies, applicable legal requirements, and electrical safety standards.
- Take part in safety audits, risk reviews, and incident investigations.
Material, Equipment & Contractor Management
- Plan and coordinate the procurement and mobilization of electrical materials, equipment, and tools.
- Monitor contractor productivity, performance, and adherence to contractual obligations.
- Ensure electrical materials are stored, handled, and used correctly to reduce wastage and rework.
Risk Management & Issue Resolution
- Identify risks related to electrical construction and prepare mitigation measures.
- Lead resolution of major field issues such as design clashes, interface problems, resource shortages, and execution bottlenecks.
- Support change control, claims, and commercial discussions connected to the electrical scope.
Progress Monitoring & Reporting
- Review and approve daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports for electrical construction.
- Share clear and accurate status updates with project management and senior leadership.
- Track milestones closely and confirm readiness for testing, commissioning, and energization.
Regulatory & External Coordination
- Coordinate with statutory bodies, utilities, and third-party inspectors for approvals, inspections, and energization clearances.
- Maintain compliance with local electrical regulations, grid codes, and project requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
The role calls for a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, with a Master’s degree preferred. Candidates should have 12 to 25 years of experience in electrical construction, including substantial exposure to utility-scale solar or renewable energy EPC projects. Prior leadership experience handling large teams, multiple contractors, and high-value projects is required.
Key Competencies
Strong leadership, sound decision-making, deep knowledge of solar electrical systems and construction practices, excellent coordination and communication, and the ability to manage multiple sites and fast-track schedules are important for success in this role.
