Role overview

Life Center of Galax is seeking a driver who is committed to behavioral health and interested in meaningful growth opportunities. This role supports the safe movement of patients, visitors, staff, supplies, and equipment while contributing to the care of the local community.

What this role covers

The driver will be responsible for transporting patients to and from appointments, activity outings, airport shuttle trips, and other special events. The position may also include transporting visitors or staff, handling admissions and discharge transport, and making supply or equipment pickups when needed.

Key duties

• Safely carry patients, visitors, or staff as required.
• Move patients for admissions and discharges.
• Confirm that every passenger is buckled before the vehicle is put in motion.
• Use company vehicles to collect supplies or equipment when requested.
• Follow the on-call schedule when assigned.
• Complete transportation records accurately and on time.
• Keep vehicle logs up to date and escalate maintenance concerns to the proper team member.
• Keep all company vehicles clean and in working order.
• Maintain a professional, compassionate, and calm approach with customers and patients.
• Address complaints appropriately and help resolve concerns when patient needs are not fully met, with patient safety as the highest priority.

Education and certification expectations

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Candidates must have a valid state driver’s license. CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification are required, though training is available after hiring through the facility. First aid certification may also be required depending on state or facility rules.
