Developer Community Specialist

Role overview

We are hiring on behalf of a partner company that handles applications and all subsequent hiring steps directly. The role is open to candidates based in Germany.

As a Developer Community Specialist, you will help grow and strengthen a global network of developers. The position blends community engagement, developer advocacy, program coordination, and relationship management. You will work in a distributed, collaborative setup, interact with technical users across different online spaces, run meaningful community activities, and act as a link between the developer audience and internal teams. Your efforts will support community expansion, improve developer satisfaction, and encourage product adoption while creating valuable experiences for technical audiences around the world.

Key responsibilities

• Build active relationships and keep developer communities engaged across Discord, Reddit, forums, and similar community spaces.
• Design, organize, and deliver community initiatives such as webinars, office hours, competitions, workshops, giveaways, and educational sessions.
• Share product news, feature launches, updates, and other important announcements to keep members informed and involved.
• Guide developers through onboarding, product usage, recommended practices, monetization options, and troubleshooting support.
• Collect opinions, insights, and sentiment from conversations, events, and direct interactions, then pass practical recommendations to internal teams.
• Track community wellbeing, participation levels, and engagement trends to spot opportunities for improvement and expansion.
• Work closely with Developer Relations, Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Social Media teams to make sure community work supports wider business goals.
• Help plan and run regional meetups, conferences, and in-person community events when needed.

What we are looking for

• At least 2 years of experience growing, moderating, managing, or supporting online communities, with clear and measurable impact.
• Practical experience with community platforms such as Discord, Reddit, Discourse, or comparable tools.
• Strong ownership and planning skills, with the ability to lead projects independently from idea to delivery.
• Excellent English writing skills and the ability to create content that resonates with technical audiences.
• Strong interest in technology, developer tools, AI, software development, or related technical areas.
• Good collaboration and people skills, with the ability to work well across distributed teams and varied stakeholder groups.
• Experience turning community feedback into concrete recommendations for product and business teams.
• Comfort learning new technologies quickly and communicating credibly with developers on technical subjects.
• Exposure to AI tools and modern productivity software is a strong plus.
• Background in technical community management, event coordination, moderation, public speaking, webinar hosting, or product demos is a plus.
