Data Analyst / Power BI Developer

Job Summary

A leading financial services organization is seeking an experienced Data Analyst to join their team on a 6-month contract basis, with potential for extension. The role involves supporting the enhancement and delivery of enterprise reporting and analytics solutions on a modern cloud-based data platform. This position requires a focus on data analysis, report development, rigorous testing, and active business engagement within a dynamic, fast-paced setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather and interpret business requirements, translating them into precise reporting and data specifications.
• Analyze, validate, and reconcile datasets within a cloud-based data warehouse using SQL.
• Develop and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports to facilitate informed business decisions.
• Contribute to the improvement of data models, semantic layers, and reporting calculations to enhance self-service analytics capabilities.
• Participate in system integration testing and user acceptance testing (UAT), including identifying and supporting the resolution of defects.
• Investigate and resolve daily data and reporting issues in collaboration with technical and business teams.
• Support data governance and data quality initiatives through controls, reconciliations, and validation processes.
• Produce and maintain essential documentation, such as report specifications, testing evidence, and user support materials.
• Engage with key stakeholders across business and technical departments to ensure reporting solutions meet operational needs.
• Assist in promoting data adoption and driving continuous improvement initiatives throughout the organization.

Required Experience and Skills

• A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in a Data Analyst, BI Analyst, or Reporting Analyst role.
• Proficiency in SQL, with a demonstrated ability to analyze and validate complex datasets.
• Proven hands-on experience in developing reports and dashboards using Power BI.
• Experience working with cloud-based data platforms like Snowflake or similar technologies.
• Solid understanding of data modeling principles and best practices for reporting.
• Experience supporting testing phases, including UAT and system testing.
• Aptitude for troubleshooting reporting and data-related issues in a critical business environment.
• Strong communication abilities, enabling effective collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational capabilities.

Desirable Skills

• Familiarity with DAX calculations and semantic modeling within Power BI.
• Exposure to data governance and data quality frameworks.
• Understanding of cloud-based analytics and reporting ecosystems.
• Knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies.
• Previous experience supporting self-service reporting environments.
• Experience within the financial services sector or other highly regulated industries is a plus.

Educational Requirements

A third-level degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business Information Systems, or a closely related field is required.
