Role Overview

Torrid is focused on building a workplace where people feel welcomed, included, and respected. The company emphasizes open communication, empowerment, recruitment, learning, growth, and retention, and values a workforce shaped by varied perspectives and backgrounds.

The Associate Planner will build the skills needed to create merchandise plans and targets for a defined set of product categories. The goal is to drive sales, keep inventory balanced, and improve margin by reviewing past sales performance, current in-season trends, and expected future demand. This role also helps the team with reporting, analysis, and a variety of ad hoc tasks that support pre-season planning, open-to-buy discussions, weekly business reviews, markdown and promotion decisions, and seasonal buying.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to annual, seasonal, monthly, and weekly assortment plans for assigned categories, ensuring the plans align with top-down financial goals.
  • Partner with Merchants to shape bottom-up pre-season plans for sales, inventory, markdowns, sell-through, style counts, productivity, and margin.
  • Assist with quarterly, seasonal, and fiscal hindsight reviews, along with other product attribute analysis, by gathering data, reviewing it, and sharing initial observations.
  • For assigned categories, maintain Basic Ladder Plans, support monthly OTB reconciliation, and regularly review inventory to determine whether a style should remain a Basic or be exited.
  • Work with Merchant and Allocation teams to plan and execute seasonal strategies based on region, climate, and other relevant factors, including store tests, GMROI by store space, and key sizing plans.
  • Reforecast category unit and dollar plans, emphasizing future opportunities while reducing sales and inventory risk, and routinely reconcile overbought and underbought positions.
  • Participate in weekly trend analysis covering category performance, channel sales, margin drivers, and seasonality.
  • Provide weekly markdown and promotion inputs and recommendations that support sales, margin, and inventory goals.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and increase efficiency on an ongoing basis.
  • Deliver ad hoc reporting and analysis for the Planning team and cross-functional partners as needed.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with data analysis, reporting, and interpretation, and is comfortable working in a fast-moving environment with shifting priorities. Strong communication skills are important, especially the ability to present complex data and product insights clearly to different audiences, including senior leaders. This person should be able to turn information into practical recommendations, work well both independently and in a team, and approach challenges with creativity, persistence, and a customer-first mindset.

Skills and Experience

The role calls for proficiency with Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, and Outlook. Exposure to planning platforms and business intelligence tools is preferred. Candidates should be proactive, organized, and collaborative, with strong problem-solving ability and the confidence to influence decisions through data-backed insights.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this role is $70,000 to $80,000 per year. Torrid also offers a competitive benefits package, which includes 401(k) with company matching, possible performance-based bonuses, medical, dental, vision, and Flexible Spending Account coverage, a 50% employee discount, access to employee-only sales, paid volunteer time of up to 32 hours each year, tuition reimbursement, an Employee Assistance Program for personal, legal, financial, and mental health support, discounts on phones, computers, and entertainment tickets, pet insurance, and opportunities to learn from senior leaders and grow within the organization.
