ജോലി വിവരണം

About the role

Jacobs is looking for an Archaeologist to support archaeological and cultural heritage work across infrastructure projects in Ireland, with some support for UK teams where needed. The role sits within a growing Archaeology & Heritage capability and focuses on helping projects move forward while protecting heritage assets and meeting professional and regulatory standards.

What you will do

  • Support assessments, reporting, and data capture for heritage and archaeology work.
  • Provide archaeological and cultural heritage oversight during construction and development activity, ensuring mitigation measures are carried out correctly and in line with contractual, professional, and guideline requirements.
  • Prepare desk-based assessments and heritage studies for planning, environmental assessment, and project development.
  • Carry out site inspections, walkover surveys, and visits to archives and topographic records.
  • Contribute to Cultural Heritage sections of EIARs, including impact analysis, mitigation planning, and coordination with other disciplines.
  • Check and quality-assure outputs from fieldwork such as excavation reports, watching briefs, and surveys.
  • Gather, interpret, and combine information from sources such as GIS, historic records, and previous investigations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams across infrastructure programmes.
  • Assist UK-based teams when required.

What you need

  • A degree in Archaeology, Heritage Management, or a closely related field.
  • Professional experience in commercial archaeology, consultancy, or heritage assessment.
  • Hands-on experience in archaeological fieldwork and report preparation.
  • Working knowledge of Irish planning and heritage legislation.
  • Willingness to travel for site-based work within Ireland and occasionally to the UK.
  • Strong writing, analytical, and organisational abilities.
  • Confidence working in multidisciplinary teams and handling multiple priorities.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Membership of, or progress toward membership in, a relevant body such as IAI or CIfA.
  • Experience using GIS and analysing spatial data.

What you bring to the work

  • Genuine interest in archaeology and heritage in a modern infrastructure setting.
  • A practical, solution-oriented approach to both fieldwork and consultancy tasks.
  • The ability to balance office-based duties with on-site responsibilities across several projects.
