Senior Operator

Job Purpose

This role is responsible for overseeing field operations and keeping watch on installed plant and utility equipment so the process stays within the approved operating envelope. The goal is to support safe, dependable plant performance in line with standard operating methods and instructions.

Key Accountabilities

• Run field equipment according to approved operating and safety procedures to maintain stable performance and optimal equipment condition.
• Carry out remote visits to wellheads when instructed by the supervisor.
• Track and record operating readings, keep a close watch on field assets, and escalate any abnormal conditions to the supervisor for guidance or corrective action.
• Use operational know-how to help resolve production and process issues and strengthen on-site operator capability.
• Prepare equipment or work areas for maintenance under permit-to-work requirements, support execution, and return equipment to service once work is completed and permits are closed.
• Act as the initial responder during emergencies or serious incidents to reduce possible harm to people, assets, and the environment.
• Ensure shift continuity by fully briefing the incoming reliever on the operating status and any important events from the previous shift.
• Follow all permit-to-work expectations during permit issue in the field and while conducting PTW field inspections.
• Promote workforce and job safety through unit surveillance, routine safety walks, PTW audits, and the use of Safety Observation Cards.
• Assist with well maintenance, well operation, pigging, well intervention, and online process sampling as required. Coordination with OES and PMT may be involved.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have completed Secondary School Education (12 years) and then obtained a relevant Vocational Training Programme Certificate.

Experience

A minimum of 5 years’ experience as an Operator in the oil and gas industry is required.
