Environmental Analyst

Job purpose

This role is responsible for coordinating environmental management and compliance for designated facilities in line with applicable regulatory obligations. It also provides technical environmental support for projects and plant improvement work.

Key accountabilities

• Lead the planning and execution of environmental assessment, protection, reporting, and management activities to maintain compliance.
• Work with Operations to build monitoring programs for emissions and discharges, and define the procedures, methods, and reporting steps needed to run them effectively.
• Help develop environmental procedures within the HSE&Q management system and keep them current so they remain effective and compliant.
• Support waste management and control efforts, including input into design and operating choices related to hazardous and non-hazardous waste generation and handling.
• Carry out environmental impact assessments and establish controls for emissions, discharges, and waste streams.
• Prepare submissions to government regulators for environmental approvals and other matters requiring official endorsement.
• Serve as the environmental point of contact for assigned assets and advise management on new or developing environmental risks, along with practical recommendations.
• Visit operating sites and project construction or installation areas to verify that work is being performed in accordance with environmental requirements.
• Compile, review, and report environmental data for onshore and offshore facilities, including emissions, discharges, and chemical use plans, for submission to MoECC, shareholders, and lenders.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in science or engineering is required.

Experience and knowledge

• At least 6 years of relevant experience in a respected organization, specifically within environmental management and facility environmental programs.
• Must maintain technical competence in line with the company’s Job Family Technical Competency matrix.
• Strong understanding of environmental disciplines, with expert-level knowledge in at least one medium such as air, water, or soil.
