Lead Machine Learning Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a Lead Machine Learning Engineer to join a rapidly expanding AI Laboratory located in Abu Dhabi. This role involves hands-on technical leadership, overseeing the design, creation, and deployment of sophisticated machine learning solutions at scale while mentoring the team and establishing engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Take charge of designing, developing, and deploying production-ready machine learning systems.
• Create and optimize ML models for various AI applications.
• Manage the entire machine learning lifecycle including experimentation, development, deployment, and monitoring.
• Develop scalable ML pipelines and infrastructure for both training and inference phases.
• Collaborate closely with Data Scientists, ML Engineers, Software Engineers, and Product teams.
• Promote best practices in MLOps, model evaluation, testing, and ensuring production reliability.
• Offer technical guidance and mentor engineering team members.
• Research, assess, and incorporate new models, frameworks, and technologies when suitable.

Candidate Requirements

• At least eight years of professional experience in Machine Learning, Software Engineering, or related technical fields.
• Proven expertise in developing and deploying machine learning models into live production environments.
• Advanced proficiency in Python programming.
• Deep knowledge of machine learning algorithms, deep learning, and contemporary AI system architectures.
• Experience using frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, or equivalents.
• Skill in constructing scalable machine learning pipelines and managing large-scale datasets.
• Strong grasp of MLOps principles, model deployment strategies, monitoring approaches, and CI/CD processes.
• Familiarity with major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Solid fundamentals in software engineering, with experience in designing production-grade systems.
• Prior leadership experience in technical project management and mentoring engineers.
• Academic qualifications including a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, AI, or a closely related discipline.
