Role Overview
The Assistant Accountant will provide key support to the hotel’s finance team, focusing primarily on Accounts Payable and ensuring accurate financial operations and reporting. This position plays a critical role in timely processing, auditing, reconciliations, and compliance to uphold the hotel's financial integrity.
Primary Responsibilities
- Support daily finance operations with an emphasis on Accounts Payable and audit requirements.
- Manage weekly payment runs ensuring timely invoice payments aligned with supplier terms.
- Prepare month-end accruals promptly and communicate potential cost issues to finance management.
- Coordinate with Purchasing and other departments for monthly review of open purchase orders.
- Assist with income audit and accounts receivable tasks, including reconciliations and financial reporting.
- Support the Finance Manager in daily Income Audit processes, including revenue report reviews, cash and credit card reconciliations, and variance investigations.
- Protect hotel assets through accurate and timely financial documentation.
- Collaborate with finance team members to ensure compliance and improve operational efficiency.
- Verify accuracy of financial entries, calculations, and coding.
- Perform additional duties as required to support business needs.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Right to work in Australia is mandatory; no sponsorship available.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or a related discipline, or minimum of one year in a comparable finance role, preferably within the hotel sector.
