Overview
Tristar Group seeks a Stock Controller to manage fuel inventory and related stock at our Central African Republic location. This position involves maintaining accurate stock records, reconciling physical and system inventories, investigating discrepancies, and ensuring compliance with company and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain detailed daily logs of fuel receipts, issues, transfers, and closing stock balances.
- Perform regular reconciliation of physical fuel stock against book/system records on daily and monthly intervals.
- Supervise stock movements across terminals, depots, tankers, and customer sites while verifying opening balances, receipts, dispatches, transfers, and closing figures.
- Investigate and report discrepancies such as stock shortages, surpluses, evaporation losses, and operational variances within approved tolerance limits.
- Ensure correct documentation and tracking of various fuel grades and products.
- Verify fuel deliveries from suppliers/refineries against documentation and meter readings, ensuring accuracy in dispatch procedures and transfer records.
- Maintain and update stock ledgers and schedules, accurately recording transactions within ERP/accounting systems.
- Assist with inventory valuation, cost calculations, and reconciliation of stock records with the General Ledger, supporting month- and year-end closing.
- Conduct physical stock verifications including tank dip and meter readings, participate in surprise audits, and maintain calibration records for measuring equipment.
- Ensure strict compliance with stock control procedures, segregation of duties, authorization protocols, and fuel industry regulatory requirements.
- Prepare comprehensive reports on daily stock status, transfers, variances, losses/gains, ageing, valuation, and audit findings.
- Collaborate with Operations, Procurement, Sales, and Logistics teams as well as external suppliers and transporters to resolve stock issues and provide accurate inventory information for management decisions.
Required Experience and Background
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in stock accounting and inventory management.
- Previous experience in oil and gas, fuel distribution, petroleum sector, logistics, terminals, or trading is highly preferred.
- Proven ability handling high-volume inventories and reconciling stock across multiple locations.
