Job Overview
The core function of the Pest Control Technician position is to deliver outstanding pest management solutions to residential clients. This entails identifying pest issues through thorough property inspections, applying appropriate treatments such as pesticides and traps, educating clients on prevention, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols while maintaining strong customer communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed inspections to detect infestation signs, damages, and potential pest entry points on client properties.
- Administer pest control treatments including chemicals, baits, and traps responsibly and in compliance with safety guidelines.
- Provide customers with guidance on pest prevention and minimizing future infestations.
- Develop and sustain good customer relationships by managing appointment scheduling, confirming visits, supporting sales to current customers, and growing the client base.
- Maintain and ensure all pest control equipment is functional, stocked, and well-kept.
- Follow all regulations at the local, state, and federal levels related to pest control and safety procedures.
- Drive and safely operate a company vehicle with maintenance handled by the employer.
Working Conditions and Essential Functions
- Frequently work in confined and tight spaces including basements, attics, crawl areas, and narrow aisles.
- Engage with insects, animals, and termites as part of typical tasks.
- Operate safely around mechanical components, electrical currents, various heights, scaffolding, fumes, dust, and chemicals, with training provided.
- Perform tasks both indoors and outdoors, equipped with company-provided weather gear suitable for local climate conditions.
- Regular physical activities including sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and navigating stairs, ladders, scaffolding, ramps, and poles.
- Use personal protective equipment such as OSHA-compliant respirators during operations.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Maintain a clean-shaven face to ensure proper fit and seal of respiratory protection equipment.
- Hold a high school diploma or GED, or have relevant experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination.
- Possess a valid driver's license for the state of residence.
- Obtain necessary licenses or certificates required by applicable federal, state, or local authorities (covered by the employer).
- Availability to work Monday through Friday and on weekends as required.
- Openness to acquiring comprehensive knowledge in all aspects of pest control.
- Strong literacy and communication abilities, including reading, writing, and speaking.
- Basic arithmetic skills to correctly interpret product mixing instructions.
- Previous experience in customer service is preferred.
