Role Overview

The Munitions Controller is responsible for overseeing the planning, scheduling, and monitoring of maintenance activities for War Reserve Material (WMR), including live, inert, and dummy munitions, along with support and handling equipment. This role ensures efficient command-and-control of explosive operations and manages information systems to track explosive assets and facility statuses, adhering to quality and contractual standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage routine and contingency planning, production scheduling, and workload oversight in accordance with contractual obligations.
  • Monitor the status, capabilities, and limitations of facilities, equipment, vehicles, and munitions impacting mission success.
  • Report any challenges or limiting factors promptly to the Munitions Superintendent.
  • Coordinate with Section supervisors to administer awaiting maintenance (AWM), awaiting parts (AWP), and Time Compliance Technical Order (TCTO) programs, including weekly reviews during scheduling meetings.
  • Plan, schedule, and communicate TCTO needs with munitions accountability and maintenance supply teams.
  • Participate in site TCTO planning and reconciliation meetings involving munitions assets and equipment.
  • Prepare comprehensive forecasts and schedules for munitions maintenance and inspections on yearly, quarterly, monthly, and weekly bases.
  • Maintain the delayed discrepancy files relating to munitions and equipment and coordinate disposal/shipment actions.
  • Compile and submit recurring reports to the Munitions Superintendent.
  • Engage in scheduling meetings with the AEW Munitions Flight, aligning department workload planning with operational requirements.
  • Support mission requirements proactively, including readiness for standby duties during both peacetime and combat contingencies.
  • Evaluate incoming demands, prioritize support for the AEW AMMO Flight, and communicate any schedule conflicts to leadership.
  • Maintain clear communication channels with AEW AMMO Flight and perform accurate data entry in related information systems (TICMS, MC2).
  • Manage keys and lock controls for munitions structures as per relevant Air Force manuals.
  • Utilize Emergency Action Check sheets for plans related to war, contingencies, fire, weather emergencies, and explosive incidents.
  • Track progress on explosive operations and communicate with supporting units regarding hazardous operations or drills.
  • Notify Fire Department of any hazardous explosives movements affecting safety protocols and document accordingly.
  • Administer Munitions Storage Area (MSA) owner/user responsibilities as outlined in Air Force instructions.
  • Perform entry-control duties and other assigned tasks as required within standard office and warehouse environments.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

  • Intermediate expertise in USAF Supply, Transportation Management Office (TMO), Munitions, and Technical Order systems or equivalent military service systems.
  • Proficient understanding of munitions control and scheduling procedures.
  • Capable of managing stress and communicating clearly and effectively.
  • Skilled in using personal computers with Microsoft Windows and Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
  • Experience in operating material handling equipment may be required.
  • Valid driver's license from home country with ability to obtain host nation driving privileges.
  • A minimum of four years of military munitions experience.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Security Clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
  • Ability to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and meet physical demands, including lifting or moving weights of at least 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
  • Normal color vision and depth perception required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge across all munitions functional areas.
  • Intermediate experience with MC2 and related information systems.
  • Familiarity with TICMS, MC2, TMRS, IMDS/DPAS M&U systems for munitions and mobile materiel handling equipment.
