We are currently recruiting an Engineering Lead (Piping) to join a major Oil & Gas company in Qatar.
Job Purpose
The Engineering Lead (Piping) will provide technical leadership and discipline oversight for all piping and layout engineering activities through the integrated FEED and EPC phases of an Ethane recovery project. This role ensures that engineering deliverables meet industry standards, safety requirements, and operational goals throughout the project lifecycle. Key responsibilities include technical assurance, resource and capability development, planning, and evaluation of deviations, as well as advising project teams and stakeholders on safe and effective engineering solutions.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering.
- Minimum 8 years of engineering experience, with at least 4 years in the oil & gas sector and 1 year in a supervisory or oversight capacity managing contractors and vendors.
- Familiarity with 3D modeling tools such as PDS or SP3D.
- Senior supervisory experience in piping and layout engineering, with extensive knowledge of NGL design and engineering execution involving design standards, specifications, codes, safety criteria, and offshore facility operations.
- Experience in FEED and EPC phases, particularly with large utility systems within inlet facilities.
- Proficiency in applying international standards relevant to the field.
Responsibilities
- Lead the piping engineering discipline, directing technical authorities and ensuring delivery of high-quality engineering services to projects.
- Review, approve, and endorse process engineering designs per approved standards and specifications throughout all project stages.
- Evaluate concepts, studies, and detailed designs for technical feasibility, standards compliance, and operational objectives, recommending optimized solutions as needed.
- Foster discipline technical capabilities through training, knowledge sharing, and professional development initiatives.
- Provide technical inputs for project execution strategies to ensure alignment with design philosophy, safety, and operability requirements.
- Advise on resource planning and deployment including recruitment, mobilization, and competency validation of process engineering personnel.
- Guide project teams on piping and layout engineering matters across all project phases from concept through commissioning and startup.
- Coordinate piping and layout engineering activities to meet project timelines effectively.
- Support discipline heads in managing standards, technical assurance, standardization efforts, and compliance oversight.
- Authorize technical deviations, waivers, and variances within delegated engineering authority.
