About the Role

The Claims Associate at Walmart Canada plays a vital role in maintaining inventory accuracy and boosting store profitability. This position is responsible for dealing with damaged and returned merchandise according to company guidelines. Close collaboration with vendors, store associates, and customers ensures proper credits, controls inventory, and enables smooth store operations. Combining detailed attention and strong customer service skills, the Claims Associate safeguards company assets and helps cultivate a positive shopping and work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Efficiently scan damaged and stolen items to help reduce losses.
• Prepare returns, vendor requests, recalls, and donation items by completing necessary documentation and managing timely packing and shipment.
• Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organization of the claims area by adhering to proper procedures for lifting, ladder use, and chemical disposals.
• Adhere to company protocols regarding the handling of damaged and recalled products, keep claims updated, and complete forms for past claims to minimize chargebacks.
• Complete assigned Customer Value Program tasks and follow established systems and processes.
• Support other store roles such as Office Support Associate and Direct Store Delivery Associate as needed.
• Demonstrate flexibility by working varied shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays to support business demands.

Work Environment Challenges

• Handle a high volume of tasks in a fast-paced environment, particularly during overnight shifts, requiring advance planning to remain alert and productive.
• Manage physically demanding tasks such as standing for long periods, bending, and lifting items weighing up to 20 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
• Perform repetitive duties like stocking, organizing, and zoning while maintaining consistency and attention to detail per store standards.

Compensation

The starting wage is $18.55 per hour.
