Job description
Role Overview
The Authorized Inspector is responsible for conducting on-site and shop inspections to ensure that client operations conform to the internal Code Services Manual, ASME Code, National Board Inspection Code, and any special customer requirements. This role demands independent judgment in guaranteeing compliance and maintaining quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform inspection services at fabrication shops or project sites, ensuring adherence to internal and external codes and customer specifications.
- Exercise autonomous decision-making to verify code compliance under minimal supervision.
- Oversee and evaluate the Quality Control programs of Fabricators, Installers, or Repairers to ascertain conformity with ASME or NBIC standards.
- Review welding procedures and personnel qualifications, including nondestructive examination standards.
- Validate compliance by examining documentation, witnessing tests and inspections, and certifying inspected items per ASME or NBIC protocols.
- Assess drawings and calculations related to inspected items for code adherence.
- Maintain detailed electronic logs of all inspection activities to document compliance efforts.
- Engage professionally with client personnel to foster collaborative working relationships.
- Prepare and submit weekly reports on time and expenses according to company policies.
- Participate in updates and revisions of Quality Control manuals and contribute to ASME, National Board, or jurisdictional joint reviews.
- Certify compliance of items as per code requirements and standards.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering is mandatory.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing, quality assurance, or inspection within the boiler, pressure vessel, or related industries.
- Experience with Nondestructive Examination (NDE) Level II or higher is highly preferred.
- Practical knowledge and hands-on experience with ASME codes & standards, as well as other international codes and standards.
- Strong willingness to accept responsibility and demonstrate an open mindset.
- Proficient communication in English along with sales and marketing abilities.
- Competency in MS Office applications.
- Willingness to travel internationally for work assignments when necessary.
- Possession of a valid driving license is desirable.
- Good interpersonal skills to support teamwork and collaboration.
