Position Summary
The Youth Development Basketball Coach will be responsible for leading the Starter and Development programs at various academy satellite sites. This role focuses on youth coaching techniques aimed at cultivating strong foundational basketball skills including footwork, ball handling, and shooting form, while promoting player confidence and enthusiasm on the court.
Main Duties
- Conduct well-structured, energetic training sessions for participants aged 6 to 14 years, focusing on physical literacy and fundamental basketball techniques.
- Act as the principal on-site liaison for parents, providing updates on player development and program milestones.
- Manage court preparations, oversee equipment, and coordinate support from assistants or interns during busy periods.
- Scout promising young talents suitable for advanced training trials and communicate findings with the Technical Lead.
Qualifications and Experience
- At least two years' experience coaching youth basketball within schools, clubs, or community programs.
- Experience playing basketball at collegiate, varsity, or competitive club levels.
- Possession of a Level 1 coaching certification or a relevant diploma in sports coaching or kinesiology.
- Strong patience, enthusiasm, and the ability to manage young athletes effectively.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR/AED is required.
