Position Overview
Join a newly formed central workforce planning team playing a pivotal role in shaping workforce outcomes for vital services supporting young people. Available permanent and fixed-term roles are based in Auckland and Wellington.

Role Details
Situated in Auckland or Wellington, you will provide workforce planning assistance to multiple residential sites nationwide, each employing roughly 250 staff. As a member of a central workforce planning hub, you will craft efficient and sustainable workforce strategies ensuring safe, compliant service delivery.
This demanding role operates within high-risk service environments and directly impacts safety, compliance, and quality of care. Responsibilities include leading workforce forecasting, optimizing rostering, reporting, and conducting analytics in complex 24/7 residential and youth justice settings. You will work collaboratively with operational leaders to anticipate staffing requirements, solve workforce challenges, and deliver insightful data to facilitate informed decision-making.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is an accomplished stakeholder communicator with expertise in change management. Key qualifications include:
- Demonstrated workforce planning skills, including resource allocation, rostering, and reporting.
- Experience managing large operational teams (250+ employees), preferably in continuous custodial care environments.
- Strong capability in planning, forecasting, and scheduling.
- Advanced proficiency in spreadsheets and data reporting, especially Excel.
- Familiarity with workforce management or rostering software.
- Analytical mindset capable of transforming workforce data into practical insights.
- Ability to perform effectively in complex, high-pressure operational settings.
- Understanding of and respect for diverse cultures, particularly tikanga Māori and Pacific peoples’ traditions.
