About the Role
Join the distinguished Hans Herzog Estate in Marlborough, New Zealand as a Wine Ambassador for the seasonal period from October/November 2026 through to April 2027. This opportunity allows for commitment either for the entire season or a 2 to 3 month duration during peak times. Applicants need to have the legal right to work in New Zealand at the start of employment, as visa sponsorship is not provided. International candidates should hold or be eligible for a New Zealand Working Holiday Visa.
As a representative of a renowned organic family-owned winery, you will be integral in delivering exceptional visitor experiences and nurturing enduring customer relationships. This multifaceted role incorporates wine hosting, sales, guest services, administrative responsibilities, and digital engagement tasks.
Key Duties
- Deliver premium wine tastings and exclusive wine experiences confidently and knowledgeably.
- Convert visitor interactions into significant wine sales and foster ongoing customer loyalty.
- Engage guests sincerely to promote and grow our wine club memberships.
- Provide comprehensive support to vineyard cottage guests, managing all stages from booking to departure.
- Handle reservations, respond to guest inquiries, and manage point-of-sale transactions.
- Assist with administrative duties including customer communications and database maintenance.
- Occasionally contribute to social media content and marketing campaigns.
- Offer flexible support across various winery operations as part of a close-knit family team.
Qualifications and Attributes
- Robust wine knowledge with the ability to speak confidently about wines, viticulture, and suitable food pairings.
- Preferred credentials include WSET Level 2 or above, sommelier training, or similar wine industry experience.
- A personable and proactive individual with excellent sales aptitude and exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Relevant experience in wine tourism, fine wine retail, hospitality, or luxury tourism sectors.
- Strong organisational abilities and competence in administrative tasks.
- Positive mindset with a readiness to contribute wherever necessary.
