- Interpret engineering blueprints, CAD models, GD&T standards, and process documentation precisely.
- Optimize machining settings to improve cycle times, surface finish quality, and prolong tool lifespan.
- Manufacture composite tooling, molds, fixtures, metallic parts, and high-precision aerospace components.
- Determine suitable cutting tools, fixtures, and clamping methods for aerospace specifications.
- Execute machine setup including alignment and datum setting to guarantee dimensional accuracy.
- Support initial article manufacturing and prototype creation.
- Ensure compliance with AS9100 standards, client specifications, and internal quality guidelines.
- Conduct ongoing inspections using precision measurement instruments.
- Participate in First Article Inspection (FAI), address NCR items, and drive corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate documentation including job cards and machining records.
- Perform routine machine maintenance, preventive checks, and basic troubleshooting.
- Adhere to safety protocols and promote safe operation of machinery on the shop floor.
- Identify and report tooling or machine problems to maintenance teams promptly.
- Collaborate closely across design, manufacturing, quality, and planning departments.
- Advise on machining feasibility during design and planning phases.
- Respond proactively to urgent production needs and help recover schedules as necessary.
Preferred Skills
- Hands-on experience operating VMCs and CNC programming.
- Expertise in CAD/CAM software and CNC controllers such as Fanuc, Siemens, or Heidenhain.
- Familiarity with machining aerospace-grade materials and tooling parts.
- Solid knowledge of GD&T principles, tolerance analysis, and precision measurement techniques.
- Understanding of aerospace quality systems, especially AS9100, is highly beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail, ownership of work, and dedication to quality standards.
- Ability to perform effectively in a dynamic aerospace manufacturing environment.
