Job description
Job Overview and Responsibilities
This position involves transforming engineering schematics such as Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and plot plans into web-based visualizations. The Visualization Engineer will integrate real-time barrier and risk status overlays on these schematics, facilitate interactive navigation hotspots linking schematic components to associated barrier, asset, action, and risk data, and develop a prototype—and potentially a final version—of a 3D plant model with dynamic condition-coloring using WebGL, three.js or similar viewing platforms. Enhancing the performance of rendering complex and sizable drawings is also a key responsibility.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Extensive experience exceeding four years in graphics or visualization engineering focused on web technologies such as SVG, Canvas, and WebGL.
- Proficiency in managing CAD and engineering drawing formats or experience with digital twin viewing solutions.
- Strong command of JavaScript and TypeScript, including expertise in profiling and optimizing application performance.
- Knowledge of three.js, Autodesk Platform Services, or comparable viewer SDKs.
- Familiarity with plant engineering data platforms, particularly AVEVA and Hexagon ecosystems.
- Understanding of oil & gas or process industry engineering drawings.
