Overview
The VIP Driver role is dedicated to providing secure, dependable, and prompt transportation services to designated officials, ensuring their efficient mobility during meetings and official duties at the African Union in Accra, Ghana.
Primary Responsibilities
- Deliver on-time operational transport support for officials.
- Carry out and document official transportation activities, maintaining precise reports related to all official transport operations.
- Assist with coordination and follow-up on logistics to ensure smooth conduct of official meetings and events.
- Maintain effective communication with internal departments and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development and upkeep of transportation records, ensuring data accuracy and timely updates.
- Safely operate official vehicles for transporting VIPs to assigned locations punctually and safely.
- Provide airport pick-up and drop-off for officials, upholding comfort, punctuality, and organizational protocols.
- Observe Minimum Operating Security Standards (MOSS) and adhere strictly to all security protocols.
- Conduct routine vehicle maintenance checks (oil, water, battery, brakes), and keep detailed logs of trips, mileage, fuel use, oil changes, and servicing.
- Comply fully with all AfCFTA Secretariat vehicle management policies including coordination, planning, and efficient use of transport resources.
- Keep accurate records of inspections, repairs, fuel consumption, mileage, and maintenance schedules.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum high school diploma and a valid, clean driver's license.
- At least three years’ experience driving in either international, national organizations or public service agencies.
- Experience supporting VIPs or official missions is a strong advantage.
- Experience transporting senior officials, visiting delegations, and diplomats according to security and protocol standards.
- Preferred certifications include First Aid, CPR, or emergency response training.
- Additional training in defensive or VIP driving and mechanical knowledge beneficial.
- Basic proficiency with computer office software such as MS Word and Excel is preferred.

- Proficiency in at least one African Union official language (English, French, Portuguese, Arabic, Spanish, Kiswahili); fluency in an additional AU language is advantageous.
