About KnowDis AI
KnowDis AI is an innovation-driven startup focusing on advanced solutions in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Generative AI. The company develops AI-powered tools to streamline and improve various business processes such as content creation, data retrieval, and document comprehension. It serves diverse sectors including e-commerce, fashion, banking, and pharmaceuticals, providing enterprise-grade AI solutions that unlock business value.
Role Overview
This leadership position calls for a strategic and operationally capable Vice President of Human Resources to develop and steer the People & Talent division amid a robust growth phase. Responsibilities encompass executive-level HR strategy—covering organizational culture, structural design, leadership counseling, and compensation frameworks—alongside accountability for recruiting high-impact talent across technical (AI/ML/engineering) and commercial (sales, Go-To-Market) teams. Additionally, the role involves crafting ESOP schemes and compensation packages tailored to attract and retain outstanding professionals. This foundational HR leadership role entails frequent collaboration with senior management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead talent acquisition by architecting and executing an ambitious recruitment plan targeting AI/ML, data engineering, product management, and sales roles; establish a scalable talent acquisition infrastructure including sourcing methods, employer branding initiatives, interview methodologies, and collaborations with academic or industry channels.
- Develop competitive compensation structures, including salary bands aligned with market standards for technical and sales roles, design variable pay models and On-Target Earnings (OTE) for sales teams, strategize total compensation integrating early-stage equity, and introduce performance-linked incentive programs; perform regular market benchmarking.
- Oversee people operations and HR systems encompassing the implementation of HR information systems (HRIS), payroll management, employee onboarding and exit procedures, statutory compliance with Indian labor laws, formulation and enforcement of employee policies, and monitoring of HR metrics such as time-to-hire, attrition rates, and employee engagement.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and executive leadership on organizational design, leadership hiring, managing change, and talent retention; foster and shape a high-performance culture aligned with the company’s research-driven AI mission and employer value proposition.
- Implement people analytics and governance frameworks by setting and tracking HR key performance indicators, preparing detailed dashboards for executive and board review sessions, and ensuring audit-ready HR governance standards.
Required Skills and Experience
- Over 10 years of progressive HR experience, including minimum 4 to 6 years in senior HR leadership positions such as Head, Vice President, or Director within dynamic technology or AI-focused companies.
- Proven track record in recruiting and scaling AI/ML, data engineering, product development, and enterprise/B2B sales teams, with in-depth understanding of technical job requirements, selection processes, and evaluation techniques.
- Expertise in designing and managing compensation and total reward systems involving market benchmarking, establishing salary bands, creating performance-driven incentives, and structuring variable remuneration models specifically for sales organizations.
- Practical operator capable of balancing strategic HR planning with hands-on execution tasks such as recruitment, policy creation, and HRIS deployment.
- Adaptability and effectiveness in a founder-led, rapidly growing environment with the capability to navigate ambiguity while combining strategic vision with operational discipline.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with experience engaging founders, investors, senior leadership across product, engineering, and sales teams; demonstrates high integrity and confidentiality standards.
- Solid knowledge of Indian labor laws and statutory compliance, payroll processing, and workforce segmentation including contractor and full-time employees; experience with remote and hybrid work arrangements is advantageous.
Education and Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, or a related discipline is required; an MBA or postgraduate qualifications in HR or equivalent are preferred.
Expected Milestones in First 6 to 12 Months
- Establishment of a ready-to-execute talent acquisition process enabling fulfillment of engineering and sales hiring goals aligned with defined ramp-up targets.
- Implementation of compensation bands and sales OTE frameworks informed by comprehensive benchmarking.
- Deployment and operationalization of HRIS alongside core people operations such as onboarding, payroll, and compliance management.
