Role Overview

This position offers an exceptional pathway for an engineering career aboard deep-sea fishing vessels as a Trainee Factory Engineer. The role involves hands-on engagement with mechanical systems aboard Sealord vessels, performing maintenance and repairs to ensure smooth operations.

Key Responsibilities

Participate actively as a team member within the engineering department, handling maintenance tasks and repairs on machinery and operational systems aboard fishing vessels. Adapt to varying voyage conditions and contribute to problem-solving in this dynamic marine environment.

Typical Work Conditions

Vessels operate on rotational voyages lasting from two to six weeks. Work shifts are usually structured in 12 hours on duty followed by 12 hours off, providing ample rest periods.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Previous mechanical or engineering experience is advantageous.
  • Relevant trade certifications such as Diesel Mechanic, Fitter and Turner, or Mechanical Engineering Trades are preferred.
  • Experience in maintenance, servicing, or repair of machinery is beneficial.
