Veeam Solutions Architect (Pre-Sales)

About the Role

We are seeking a technically skilled Pre-Sales Consultant specializing in data protection, backup, and disaster recovery to join our team onsite in Dubai, UAE. As a key technical liaison, you will partner with Account Managers to uncover client challenges, craft comprehensive Backup and Disaster Recovery solutions, conduct Proof-of-Concepts (POCs), and clearly present designs to IT teams and management. Your work will go beyond selling software to architecting resilient infrastructures.

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead technical discovery sessions to evaluate customer backup, storage, and recovery needs.
• Design end-to-end data protection architectures that align with specified RTO/RPO, data retention policies, and compliance standards.
• Develop technical diagrams, Bills of Materials (BoMs), and detailed deployment plans.
• Create robust protection strategies for physical, virtualized (VMware, Hyper-V), and hybrid cloud environments.
• Support replication, failover, and recovery testing procedures to ensure reliability.
• Architect solutions using Veeam Backup & Replication, Veeam Data Platform, and VBO365 products.
• Plan and size Veeam proxy and repository setups including Scale-Out Backup Repositories (SOBR) and backup copy jobs.
• Prepare and present live demos that illustrate backup, recovery, and replication processes.
• Lead POC initiatives to validate technical suitability of Veeam offerings.
• Design modern backup frameworks incorporating immutable storage, hardened repositories, and air-gapped recovery environments to bolster ransomware resistance.
• Advise customers on best practices for backup security including multi-factor authentication, privileged access controls, and network segmentation.
• Demonstrate ransomware clean recovery techniques using isolated environments.
• Collaborate with storage teams to integrate Veeam with SAN, NAS, and object storage platforms such as S3, Azure Blob, and MinIO.
• Conduct storage performance validations (IOPS, latency, throughput) and capacity planning based on data growth trends.
• Recommend backup appliances including Data Domain and StoreOnce, and develop strategies to optimize data transfer.
• Design backup and disaster recovery methods for cloud workloads running on AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
• Assist customers with transitions and mobility using Veeam replication and restore capabilities.
• Establish protection schemas for Microsoft 365 services ensuring compliance with data sovereignty regulations.
• Deliver technical presentations and detailed solution overviews to client IT departments and executives.
• Prepare RFP/RFQ responses and develop comprehensive technical proposals.
• Address technical objections and effectively convey Veeam’s advantages versus competitors.
• Coordinate with Professional Services teams to achieve smooth handoffs from solution design to implementation phases.
• Participate in client kickoff meetings to review and clarify architectural assumptions.

Required Skills and Experience

• Total professional experience between 6 to 8 years in backup, disaster recovery, storage, or infrastructure engineering roles.
• At least 2 to 3 years of direct, hands-on experience designing or deploying Veeam Backup & Replication solutions.
• Comprehensive knowledge of enterprise backup concepts and methodologies.
• Strong familiarity with virtualization platforms like VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V.
• Proficiency with storage technologies including SAN, NAS, Object Storage (S3), and deduplication appliances.
• Experience developing ransomware-resilient backup architectures with immutable storage.
• Working knowledge of one or more major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) relevant to backup and disaster recovery scenarios.
• Strong interpersonal skills including running technical workshops, delivering insightful product demonstrations, and proof-of-concept sessions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, capable of making complex technical information accessible to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experienced presenting to IT managers, infrastructure leads, and senior leadership levels.
• Veeam Certification highly preferred, with VMCE (Veeam Certified Engineer) as a strong differentiator.
• Candidates pursuing VMCE with solid practical experience will also be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to other backup platforms such as Commvault, Rubrik, Cohesity, or Dell PowerProtect is advantageous.
• Prior experience protecting Microsoft 365 data with VBO365.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes protection solutions, such as Kasten by Veeam.
• Basic scripting skills in PowerShell or Python for automation of reporting and demos.
• Experience collaborating within reseller or channel partner frameworks.
• Familiarity with Middle East, GCC, or APAC IT markets is a plus.
