Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated VAT Accountant to join our Finance Team. This pivotal role involves managing VAT registrations and returns across 11 jurisdictions for multiple corporate entities. The successful candidate will actively collaborate within the team and with cross-functional departments, gaining a valuable opportunity to own and optimize VAT processes within an international organization.

Responsibilities

• Ensure timely filing of VAT returns and processing of tax payments according to legal deadlines across various jurisdictions.
• Perform monthly general ledger reconciliations for VAT accounts and resolve any discrepancies.
• Address notifications and inquiries from tax authorities promptly.
• Coordinate with third-party agents to manage customs procedures ensuring full compliance.
• Confirm accurate application of tax codes and rates in financial systems.
• Maintain ongoing VAT compliance and lead audit-related activities.
• Conduct technical research to support strategic tax planning efforts.
• Support corporate tax filings as required.
• Act as the principal liaison for external stakeholders on VAT matters.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in tax, accounting, finance, commerce, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of three years’ relevant professional experience.
• Possession of a professional accounting qualification and tax certification.
• Strong knowledge of VAT legislation across multiple regions.
• Experience using SAP is advantageous.

Skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
• Basic understanding of customs procedures is preferred.
