Company Overview

We are partnering with a respected multinational manufacturing company growing its Indirect Tax team based in Cork. This organisation operates in over 50 countries, supplying products under some of the world's top consumer and industrial brands. Their Cork shared service centre serves as an essential hub for global finance activities and is undergoing digital transformation and modernisation.

Role Summary

The VAT Accountant will become part of a small, experienced, and cohesive team. The position encompasses VAT and indirect tax responsibilities alongside broader duties such as ledger management, balance sheet and system reconciliations, supporting period-end closes, and troubleshooting ERP-related issues. This role is ideal for someone looking to apply their VAT expertise broadly across the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in VAT and indirect tax compliance across numerous countries
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes including reconciliations and financial reporting
• Collaborate with IT and other departments to address daily system and operational challenges
• Maintain strong interactions with auditors and tax authorities, acting as a primary contact
• Participate in the enhancement of processes and internal controls as the finance function evolves

Candidate Profile

• Qualified accountant or tax consultant
• Preferably with multinational experience or practical exposure through an accounting firm
• Proficient with ERP systems, such as Oracle Financials, and advanced Excel capabilities are advantageous
• Analytical thinker with a solution-focused attitude, interested in connecting broader business aspects rather than only processing transactions
• Proactive, enthusiastic, and eager to engage with wider business functions
