Job description

About the Role

Join Careermate as a UX Researcher based in Singapore, where you will be pivotal in gaining deep, actionable insights into user needs, behaviors, and motivations. Your main focus will be on qualitative research, involving planning and executing studies, directly engaging with customers, and synthesizing comprehensive qualitative findings across the organization. You will help shape research strategy and collaborate closely with senior stakeholders and the UX research team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a variety of qualitative research techniques including in-depth interviews, contextual inquiries, ethnographic studies, and usability testing for web and mobile platforms.
  • Analyze and synthesize complex qualitative data—interview transcripts, observation notes, usability sessions—to extract themes, patterns, and meaningful insights with detailed documentation.
  • Convert nuanced and sometimes ambiguous research data into clear, engaging narratives that effectively communicate user needs and challenges to stakeholders.
  • Serve as a research consultant across multiple product lines by identifying overarching organizational patterns and tailoring insights for individual teams.
  • Develop compelling research reports and presentations for senior management, providing clear analysis and actionable recommendations to influence product, design, and business strategies.
  • Collaborate effectively with designers, product managers, engineers, and business partners; engage in brainstorming and workshops to support timely design decisions.
  • Lead research operations including participant recruitment, maintaining research repositories, and creating reusable templates to improve research efficiency and insight accessibility across the company.

Candidate Requirements

  • 3 to 6 years of professional experience in UX research with a specialization in qualitative methods.
  • Proficiency with qualitative research techniques such as thematic analysis, affinity mapping, and delivering service design blueprints, journey maps, and process flows.
  • Demonstrated ability to choose appropriate qualitative methods and synthesize insights into actionable outputs for product, design, business, and technology teams.
  • Experience defining research objectives in collaboration with product, design, brand, and engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Strong grasp of product design processes and familiarity with emerging technologies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with product, technology, data, and business teams to enhance user experiences and services.
  • Mandatory Mandarin language proficiency.
  • Applicants must be based in Singapore and available for in-person interviews.

Portfolio & Case Study Submission

  • A portfolio link must accompany the CV and will be a crucial part of the screening process.
  • Applicants should be ready to discuss one or two portfolio cases during interviews.
  • Case studies should be submitted for the hiring team’s review at the screening stage.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of design and prototyping tools such as Figma.
  • Experience leveraging AI-enhanced research methods and tools.
  • Familiarity with quantitative research approaches like surveys, A/B testing, product analytics, and customer satisfaction metrics to support qualitative findings.
