Job description

Position Overview

This role provides essential support to the Maintenance Department within an industrial paint facility, focusing on diverse general labor activities, facility cleanliness, material handling, and assisting maintenance staff. The Utility Worker plays a key role in sustaining safe, orderly, and effective plant operations while contributing to maintenance and repair operations across the site.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist maintenance team members by performing general labor support tasks.
  • Conduct housekeeping tasks in maintenance workshops, paint facilities, and adjacent work zones.
  • Clean tools, equipment, workspaces, and material areas related to maintenance activities.
  • Handle the movement, staging, and organization of tools, components, materials, and machinery.
  • Support the setup and dismantling processes for maintenance jobs and repairs.
  • Carry out cleaning duties such as pressure washing, scraping, sweeping, shoveling, and general cleanup.
  • Contribute to preventive maintenance efforts as directed by supervisors.
  • Respond to spill cleanup and waste management following environmental and safety protocols.
  • Operate basic hand tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Provide assistance to mechanics, technicians, painters, and external contractors when required.
  • Maintain compliant and secure working conditions by adhering to all safety regulations and personal protective equipment guidelines.
  • Execute other duties assigned by management.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Prior experience in industrial labor, maintenance, or facility support is beneficial.
  • Capability to work within an industrial painting environment and support maintenance operations.
  • Ability to comprehend and execute instructions provided verbally and in writing.
  • Possess a strong work ethic with dependable attendance.
  • Demonstrate a team-focused attitude and reliability.
  • Maintain safety awareness at all times.
  • Flexibility to assist different areas as necessary.
  • Good communication and collaborative skills.

Reporting Structure

This position reports directly to the Maintenance Site Manager.

Physical Demands

  • Frequent periods of standing, walking, bending, climbing, lifting, and carrying materials.
  • Ability to regularly lift items up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, exposed to various weather conditions.
  • Compliance with personal protective equipment requirements including respirators, gloves, safety glasses, hard hats, and protective clothing.
