Utility Person

Job Overview

Martin Marietta is looking for a dependable and safety-conscious Utility Person to join their team in Macon, GA. This role involves cross-functional tasks spanning plant maintenance, production, and equipment operation to ensure efficient plant functioning.

Typical Responsibilities

• Conduct preventative and routine maintenance on both mobile and stationary plant equipment, including performing cutting and welding tasks under supervisor guidance.
• Carry out daily pre- and post-shift inspections on equipment and log maintenance activities accurately.
• Use hand tools and operate machinery such as skid steers and front end loaders to maintain clean and safe plant surroundings, including roads and parking areas.
• Manage dust control efforts by operating a water truck.
• Participate actively in plant operations including production activities, loading and shipping processes, and quality control measures.
• Ensure excellent housekeeping and maintain safe traffic flow across the facility.
• Operate plant-specific mobile equipment such as excavators and haul trucks safely when required.
• Support the training and development of coworkers as needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisory staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent practical experience suited for this role.
• Previous experience in the building materials industry is preferred but not mandatory.
