Utility Locate Technician

About the Role

ELM Utility Services invites applications for the role of Utility Locate Technician based in Bismarck, North Dakota. This key position ensures the safety and reliability of critical gas, electric, and communication infrastructure by conducting precise utility locating before excavation activities. Technicians operate autonomously in the field, equipped with company vehicles and the advanced LaunchPoint software to streamline daily work assignments. The starting pay for this role is $25.00 per hour, varying with experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily routes independently using a company-provided vehicle as a mobile office to fulfill utility locate requests.
• Safely and accurately identify and mark underground utilities employing marking paint, flags, and whiskers as necessary.
• Utilize mobile work systems to receive and track daily task assignments.
• Participate in on-call rotations and be available for overtime, including nights and weekends when required.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Must pass pre-employment screenings including drug tests, Motor Vehicle Record review, and background checks.
• Compliance with Federal Department of Transportation regulations is mandatory, prohibiting the use of marijuana regardless of medical or recreational status as it is classified as a Schedule I controlled substance.
• Must have a High School Diploma or GED and be at least 18 years old.
• Possession of a valid driver's license is required.
