Role Overview

The Underwriter role demands keen judgment to take full ownership of credit evaluations. Responsibilities include assessing risk, authorizing credit approvals, and collaborating closely with sales, operations, and credit teams to hasten the approval of beneficial deals while promptly rejecting unsuitable ones. This position requires a blend of commercial insight and rapid decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead underwriting duties for loan deals valued between £25,000 and £750,000.
• Assess creditworthiness by analyzing financial statements and open banking information.
• Apply credit risk guidelines thoughtfully, allowing for commercially sound exceptions when appropriate.
• Design offer structures balancing speed, risk management, and commercial viability.
• Work in partnership with sales to ensure prompt decisions and smooth implementation.
• Escalate and provide guidance on complex or atypical cases.
• Maintain precision in customer relationship management (CRM) and thorough underwriting records.
