TVET Systems Specialist

About the Role

Vashi Impact Group (VIG) is inviting skilled professionals with extensive experience in East African contexts to join as TVET Systems Specialists. This full-time position involves supporting projects related to technical and vocational education and training (TVET) systems, education policy and governance, labor market dynamics, employer engagement, and refugee inclusion.

Positions Available

• TVET Systems Specialist: Requires a Master’s degree in TVET, Education, Skills Development, or related fields. Candidates must have at least three years of professional experience focused on TVET system enhancement, institutional capacity building, and curriculum development. A comprehensive knowledge of competency-based education and training (CBET), qualification frameworks, and quality assurance is essential.
• Education/TVET Policy & Governance Specialist: Requires a Master’s degree in Education Policy, Governance, TVET, Development Studies, or similar disciplines, with a minimum of three years of relevant experience. Understanding of national policy frameworks and governance structures related to education and TVET is necessary, along with experience in policy evaluations, institutional assessments, and stakeholder engagement.
• Labour Market / Employer Engagement Specialist: Candidates should possess a Master’s degree in Labour Economics, Economics, Human Resource Management, Development Studies, or related fields and at least three years of experience in labor market analysis or workforce development programs. Experience collaborating with employers, industry groups, private sector actors, and developing employer partnerships such as apprenticeships, internships, or work-based learning opportunities is required.
• Refugee Inclusion / Protection-Sensitive Programming Specialist: Requires a Master’s degree in Refugee Studies, International Development, Humanitarian Studies, Protection, Gender studies, or similar fields, along with a minimum of four years’ experience in refugee programming or related humanitarian and development work. Candidates must have expertise in integrating protection, gender responsiveness, disability inclusion, safeguarding, and conflict sensitivity, along with a deep understanding of barriers refugees face in education, TVET, livelihoods, and employment.

Required Experience

Applicants should demonstrate strong knowledge of the East African region, including its education systems, skills development environment, labor markets, governance frameworks, and humanitarian context. Proven experience collaborating with governmental bodies, TVET institutions, development partners, employer groups, NGOs, UN agencies, and local communities across East Africa is crucial.
