Role Overview

This full-time role is based onsite in Otley, England. The tutor is responsible for conducting individual tutoring sessions in key subjects, developing lesson plans aligned with school curricula, and tailoring teaching approaches to meet each learner's pace and needs. They regularly assess progress, provide helpful feedback, and maintain communication with students' parents or guardians regarding objectives and outcomes. Additional duties include recording session details, collaborating with the local Tutor Doctor team on educational strategies, and upholding a professional, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Solid expertise in core school subjects such as Mathematics, English, and Sciences with the ability to make concepts understandable and accessible.
  • Proven experience in tutoring, mentoring, or teaching, with adaptability to diverse ages and learning styles.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including patience, active listening, and rapport building with learners and families.
  • Effective organizational and planning skills for lesson preparation, progress monitoring, and managing multiple learners.
  • Dedication to safeguarding, inclusivity, and nondiscriminatory practices, along with professionalism working with children and young people.
  • A bachelor’s degree or similar educational level relevant to the field is advantageous; teaching credentials or certificates are a plus.
  • Knowledge of the UK school curriculum and local exam standards such as GCSE and A-level is highly preferred.
  • Requirement for background checks and references to ensure safety and professionalism.
