Trust Associate

Job Overview

The Trust Associate role at BMO focuses on delivering superior sales and customer service experiences to Indigenous Trust clients. This position provides a high level of technical expertise in trust account management and administration, ensuring adherence to compliance standards. The role involves working collaboratively with the branch and regional teams to foster effective client relationship management while referring clients to appropriate business groups as necessary.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist in crafting business proposals and client presentations tailored to client needs.
• Establish and nurture ongoing client relationships through quality service.
• Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance client experience.
• Maintain comprehensive knowledge of integrated services, with emphasis on Trust products and protocols.
• Coordinate and carry out specific tasks related to strategic initiatives, including tracking progress metrics.
• Forge productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and collaboration.
• Monitor performance metrics and promptly address arising issues.
• Set up and maintain trust accounts in compliance with applicable regulations within set timeframes.
• Support audits and compliance reviews as required.
• Identify and escalate any irregularities or discrepancies to management.
• Provide sales and service support activities to meet client demands and maintain service standards.
• Offer administrative support to team members and relationship managers, including financial reporting, asset and account reconciliation, compliance tasks, fee collection, and ensuring documentation integrity.
• Adhere to high service quality standards that promote relationship retention and growth.
• Build client trust by establishing rapport and credibility.
• Comply rigorously with risk, compliance, and privacy policies to protect customer assets and uphold ethical practices.
• Safeguard the bank’s assets and maintain adherence to legal, regulatory, and ethical obligations.
• Exercise independent judgment to identify, analyze, and resolve issues within established guidelines.
• Engage in innovative thinking to propose new solutions and improvements.
• Manage risks by applying the Risk Management Framework in alignment with business strategy and regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience coupled with a post-secondary degree in a related discipline, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
• Familiarity with Trust products and services; experience within the Trust industry is preferred.
• Trust-related accreditation is advantageous.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
• Excellent collaboration and teamwork skills.
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Effective influence and interpersonal skills.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this role ranges from $45,000 to $100,000 annually, varying by location, expertise, education, and qualifications, with potential inclusion of commissions.
